sinantol, tinuto at ibpa..

Infantahin words revisited…..


Whenever in town, I often immersed myself in a joyful conversation with friends.  It is  of course not complete if not over a gallon  and another gallon and one more until we lost count of our local favourite drink , lambanog’ to be exact.  Settings like these remind me of words uniquely Infantahin, words most likely only we can comprehend.

So much for introduction let me just invite you in revisiting these words we used to utter ……….

ha ne’ …………….. A very powerful addition in every conversation as in
                                  Syanga hane’……………… an act of agreement
                                  Hane’ nga…………………..convincing act
                                  Ikaw mandin hane’………....an act of suspicion or could be an act warning to one's deed   
                                  indi gah hane’………………defiance


ali tu at’ ……………confused, puzzled as in    
                                  aba’y kanina pa ito ali tu at’ ah, ano bagang iniisip mo?


ba nas’……………   a condition of a body in hot and humid temperature as in
                                   banas’ naman


ba re no’……………irritated as in
                                  nakaka bareno itong batang ito ah

ha gas’……………...this word have so many meaning depending on how it is use in a
                                   conversation, it could mean foolish act or a person is a fool himself
                                   wag kang magulo hagas’ na hagas’ mo


tu mar’……………...to drink as in
                                   ano kata baga’y tu tumar ngay-on?


er go’………………..an act of conversation as in
                                   diyan ka laang at ako’y makikipag ergo’ muna sa tinampo


us ting’ ……………..er go’ din ito


i wa is’……………....to reposition something as in
                                    i wa is’ mo nga iyang mga naghambalang na iyan


na ma lis bis’………..hurriedly left in short cut as in
                                   ay douhon ko nakitang namamalisbis’


si big’……………….to retire from school or work as in
                                   hindi pa baga nasibig’ si indong  ay anong oras na?


sag maw’……………collected liquids and left-over from foods and other things intended
                                   for feeding pigs as in
                                   totoy ipunin mo nga yang sagmaw’ at ihahalo ko sa ipa


li no’………………...sagmaw din hane’


ma ra gu so’………...bittergout a bitter tasting vegetable…….sa maynila ampalaya


mi na nok’…………..tinolang baka


si nan tol’…………...a dish out of santol……finely grated then cook in large volume of
                                   coconut milk seasoned with garlic and lemon grass, usually with 
                                   yellow fin tuna……..tsarap!


sa lay’……………….lemon grass sa english tanglad sa ibang bayan


pa la tok’…………….belo-belo sa maynila


si nuk ma ni’………...biko sa maynila


i sud’………………...move a bit as in
                                    Ano ka ba mama? Sikip-sikip na kasi kunting  isud,’ naman.


di nag to’…………….nilupak sa maynila


bi nag kat’…………...wala nito sa maynila


us lit’……………….. pakalat-kalat na ngay-on


li pa in’……………....a grouper fish, lapu-lapu sa maynila


ma la su gi’………….blue marlin sa english , sarap ihawin sarap din sinig-ang

ba ruk bok’…………..censored ito


bus log’……………...tsaka ito


la na’…………………a footh path in bushy areas


bas-ig’………………..a form of divides in a paddy field


ka li him’………….....wala na nito sa bakery


pa sa ka’……………..going uptown, uuwi na sa linang


ki bit’………………...sarap itong pulutan galing burdeus


bur lit’………………..to push a log out of forested area


bu la og’……………...to transport a log by means of a river as in
                                     nakita ko sa agos daming trosong ibinubulaog’


kid ya’………………..kalamansi


mang lit’……………...a great alternative for sinantol additives


ma da si’……………...referring to slightly higher waves out in the sea


a lu yo’……………….three to five or more times slightly higher than madasi’


bi na ngi’……………..grilled, inihaw sa maynila

Infantahin ......ano kaya?

Hmmp....I really don't have a clue right now what is there to blog about Infanta. For a start I could only think of Lambanog......Syanga hane! think it would be a nice drink as well. What else? Hala anything goes na laang, binabanas pa ako kakaisip on my first blog but I realized just now that there's aplenty to blog about aside from Lambanog.......tinuto, sinantol, pinangat, minanok, sinukmani, parisukit, pusopusu-an huh andami na pagkain pa laang hane...
Sige sige share natin ang uniquely Infantahin ( Infantahin as in infanta-real-nakar at maging sa isla na polillo)...
